Last Minute Trades

So the trade deadline is officially over, and now here come the last updates on who got switched to what team. The San Jose Sharks made a few moves by trading three of their current players over the the Colorado Avalanche, two of which are prospects. The Sharks handed over McGinn, Connolly, Sgarbossa in exchange for the A’s Winnik and Galiardi.

The Sharks weren’t the only last minute shoppers today, the Predators made another trade today by acquiring Gaustad from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a first round pick.  Buffalo sweetened the pot a little bit by throwing in a fourth round pick along with Gaustad. The Winnipeg Jets were also in trade negotiations today by giving Oduya to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a pair of draft picks.

The biggest trade of the day seemed to be between the Vancouver Canucks and the Buffalo Sabres with a four player trade situation.  The Canucks traded Hodgson and Sulzer to the Sabres in exchange for Kassian and Gragnani. A lot of people were a bit shocked by this trade since Hodgson already has 16 goals and 33 points for the Canucks, but in the long run it will make sense since he has been stuck behind Sedin and Kesler in terms of depth all season.  The Canucks were not done yet, as they then traded Ellington to the Blue Jackets for Pahlsson.
