The Ultimate Super Bowl Food & Beer Pairing

The Ultimate Super Bowl Food & Beer Pairing

If you’re familiar with the Hyped Network, you know we’re hyped on two things: beer and sports. So hyped, we created a spinoff to BallHyped called BeerHyped.com, where instead of voting up our favorite sports blogs we hype our favorite craft beers. No Bud Light or Coors Light here, just the best of the best craft beers from the U.S. to Belgium. So for the big game Sunday, which combines both our favorite pastimes – beer and football – we’ve drafted a blueprint for...

ESPN Anchor Curses on SportsCenter [VIDEO]

ESPN Anchor Curses on SportsCenter [VIDEO]

Friday Funnies on ESPN’s SportsCenter should have highlighted its own crew Friday after anchor Neil Everett dropped a “son of a bitch” and a “God dang it” as ESPN cut to a commercial break shortly before 11 p.m. Pacific. Everett obviously didn’t realize the cameras were still rolling as ESPN had been previewing its upcoming Friday Funnies but then cut back to anchors Everett and Stan Verrett a couple seconds before the break. Everett was taking notes and was cursing at something that had...

Who’s at Fault for the Boston Red Sox Debacle?

Who’s at Fault for the Boston Red Sox Debacle?

Being I live on the West Coast, I was reserving comment on the debacle that is the Boston Red Sox until I at least saw them play in person. I’d seen them play a dozen times on national TV, because they’re, well, the Red Sox, but until this past weekend in Oakland, I wasn’t sure just how embarassing they were. Then I saw it with my own eyes. This “team” in anything but. Boston is a squad filled of individuals who could care less...

A Perfect King: Felix Hernandez Throws Perfect Game

Bow down to the King. Seattle Mariners pitcher “King” Felix Hernandez threw a perfect game Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays, striking out five hitters over the final two frames of a 1-0 victory at Safeco Field. It was the first perfect game in the Mariners’ 35-year history and the fourth no-hitter for the franchise. It was the third perfect a game of the season and the 23rd perfecto in MLB history. “Oh man, I don’t have any words to explain this,” Hernandez told...

Here’s to Half the Postseason College Football Deserves

Here’s to Half the Postseason College Football Deserves

We're not sold on the new NCAA football "playoff" because it only include four teams. It also appears that structure will be locked in for as many as 12 years, which is good for online sports betting sites but means we’re right where we were many moons ago when we all thought the BCS was a great idea.

2013 NBA Championship Odds: Heat Win (Shrug), Who’s next?

2013 NBA Championship Odds: Heat Win (Shrug), Who’s next?

LeBron James won his first title Thursday. I was going to write tonight’s post about the Miami Heat winning the 2012 NBA championship, but that’s so yesterday (it’s technically Friday on the East Coast). And we live in 2012, where all the Twitter/media/blogosphere care about is what and who’s next. Not what’s happened. We no longer hop on the bandwagon, we hop on the pre-bandwagon, trying to be the first Twitterer to “report” the next big thing. So we here at BallHyped.net wanted to...

Best Closer in the Game? Maybe It’s Durant

Best Closer in the Game? Maybe It’s Durant

LeBron James takes a lot of, well, Heat for not finishing ballgames. And a lot of it is warranted, the way he tends to disappear and almost takes himself out of plays when it comes to clutch time. Kobe Bryant, however, is known as “the best closer in the game” by many. But not on Wednesday. The Lakers butchered a7-point lead with two minutes to go, with Bryant having a hand in a majority of those miscues down the stretch of a 77-75 loss...

World Peace Gives Lakers a Chance

While the Lakers "bigs" got all the credit from ESPN and the major media outlets Saturday for stepping up in a 96-87 victory over the Denver Nuggets in Game 7, it’s clear defense was the difference. Specifically Ron Artest, or Metta World Peace, who completely shut down whoever he was guarding Saturday in his return from a seven-game suspension.
