With hockey in the off season, most of the news for fans have come in the form of who the new draft picks are various trades that have occurred, but yesterday for four ex-hockey players they received the best calls of their careers yesterday.  Joe Sakic, Adam Oates, Pavel Bure and Mats Sudin all received a phone call yesterday from the The Hockey Hall of Fame committee that they all will be inducted next November in Toronto. If you follow the Colorado Avalanche on twitter, you probably heard the...

NHL Awards

In case you missed it, the NHL Awards were last night. I could be wrong, but from my experience watching hockey, this might have been one of the award shows with the bigger interest. I judge this mostly from the amount of celebrity appearances and special announcements. No house wives this year mispronouncing players names, so perhaps the NHL learned from the Martin St. Louis mishap last year. It seemed like all the celebrity hockey fans came out of the woodwork for last night’s show. Will Arnett...

Kings Leading Yet Again

Kings Leading Yet Again

Like the other series leading up to the Cup finals, the LA Kings have the early lead by securing the first two game wins. The New Jersey Devils have faced adversity before, and since this conference is for the Stanley Cup, things might not be within the Kings grasp in two or three more games. This has been evident through how the first two games went into overtime showing the prowess of both goaltenders Jonathan Quick and Marty Broduer, as they continue to keep...

Unexpected Rivals

While the Kings were unable to sweep the Coyotes, they did stop their rivals in the 5th game, earning the LA Kings a spot in the Stanley Cup Final Game. A game that the franchise has not been to since 1993. While this is exciting for the team, they have their work cut out for them as they go up against the unexpected Eastern Champions, The New Jersey Devils. The Kings played much like they did in the first two series against the Coyotes,...

Kings to the Cup?

Kings to the Cup?

In a similar fashion to the last two series, the Kings have taken the first three games against the Phoenix Coyotes to give them a fair lead. This win is putting the Kings one step closer to the Cup final, which they haven’t been to since 1993. This also spells out trouble for their rivals, especially since game 4 is once again going to be in LA’s Staples Center. If the Kings continue to play the way they have, they might get out of...

Devils Tie It Up

While The Kings are ruling the Western Final 2-0, and are facing their third match up tonight, the Devils proved last night that they are not going down without a fight against their heated rivals the New York Rangers. In their first match up, the Rangers came out on top with a shutout win 3-0, but the Devils knew this could not happen again in game two.  The Devils knew that in order to win, they had to figure out a way to best Henrik...

Rangers Lead The East

Rangers Lead The East

As was being predicted by various sports  broadcasters, the New York Rangers took the lead in the Eastern Conference Finals, but not without a struggle to score.  As we can see by the fact that the only goals scored were by the Rangers and did not occur until the very last period. For both teams, the first and second periods appeared to be an even struggle. The first period was pretty even with shots running from 6-8 in favor of the Rangers. Both teams...
