The Doan Dilemna

The Doan Dilemna

Pre-season is almost upon us (hopefully if the NHLPA and the league come to an agreement) but there are still some free agents out there that have yet to sign. Right now one of the questions being asked is where will Shane Doan sign this year? Doan has played for the Phoenix Coyotes his whole career. He’s actually only played for one other team, the 1995 Jets, but they are technically the same since it was after his first season in Winnipeg that the...

Unexpected Rivals

While the Kings were unable to sweep the Coyotes, they did stop their rivals in the 5th game, earning the LA Kings a spot in the Stanley Cup Final Game. A game that the franchise has not been to since 1993. While this is exciting for the team, they have their work cut out for them as they go up against the unexpected Eastern Champions, The New Jersey Devils. The Kings played much like they did in the first two series against the Coyotes,...

Kings to the Cup?

Kings to the Cup?

In a similar fashion to the last two series, the Kings have taken the first three games against the Phoenix Coyotes to give them a fair lead. This win is putting the Kings one step closer to the Cup final, which they haven’t been to since 1993. This also spells out trouble for their rivals, especially since game 4 is once again going to be in LA’s Staples Center. If the Kings continue to play the way they have, they might get out of...

Kings Lead Series

Kings Lead Series

With Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals complete, The Kings have the early lead with the first win of 4-2.  Like the previous two series they have played, the Kings are poised to win with early goals scored and their quick goalie Jonathan Quick. (Notice the pun.) However, this is only game 1, and Phoenix was playing equally as well offensively last night. Although having the home team playoff shirts be white, made it look like they’re fans were rooting for the Kings,...

Conference Finals Begin

Last night the New York Rangers and the Washington Capitals played their final battle against each other for the chance to get the Cup, in a Game 7 tiebreaker. The Capitals, who had a rough start earlier this season, were finally out done by the New York Rangers in a 2-1 victory for the Rangers. Since the game was the tiebreaker, the Rangers were not going to let their chance to win the cup slip from their fingers as Brad Richards  scored the first...

The Battle Rages On In The East

While the other three conferences have wrapped up, we are still waiting to see who will come out the victor in the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals Semi-finals round. To refresh your memory of the outcome of the other series, The Kings took the St. Louis Blues in a sweep of four games, Coyotes defeated the Predators 4-1, which the New Jersey Devils seemed to mimic when they beat the Philadelphia Flyers on home ice last night. With the Coyotes and the Kings...

Kings Kill Another Top Dog

Kings Kill Another Top Dog

I think it’s safe to say “Let’s go Kings,” even if you don’t like the Kings, because frankly they came out of nowhere this season. The Kings had a rough season this year, but they managed to just make into the playoffs this post-season. Wherein they proved once again that it doesn’t matter how you get to the Stanley Cup, just that you get there. They took out number one seed Vancouver Canucks in four games, and then did it again with the number...

Round 2 Leaders

As Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals are starting, the freshest thing on many hockey fans’ minds must be: Where have the Phoenix Coyotes been all these years? Right now the Coyotes are leading their series against the Nashville Predators. The Coyotes are up by 2 games, so the Predators are going to have to step it up in game 3 if they want a chance at the Cup. The two teams have been pretty even this season as they are back to...

Turris Traded

Turris Traded

Forward Kyle Turris of The Phoenix Coyotes has been traded to the Ottawa Senators for Defenseman David Rundbland and a second draft pick in the upcoming draft following this season.  Turris who is currently a free agent knew that some sort of move was going to be made soon due to being scoreless in the last six games that the Coyotes have played.  As a free agent, Turris also sat for awhile before signing a deal with The Coyotes, and this led him to missing the...
