NFL Storylines Losers and Winners

With only four days until the Hall of Fame game, the NFL season is right around the corner. All the excitement from the offseason moves, draft picks, free agent signings are all coming together, and on August 5 we get to see our first game with. Is it between relevant teams? Well, not exactly, but it is football, and that is what I care about.

With the season around the corner, I going to give out four teams, two losers, two winners whose storylines are the most hyped this year.

Dallas and the Jets are looking like the leaders in coverage this offseason. There is coverage at all of the practices, and ESPN has sent the best of the best to cover them. The problem I have is basic neither team is very good. In fact, neither team has enough talent on their team that brings them much above .500 records. Tebow, although is a great person, will not make the lack of overall offensive weapons that the Jets have some how better. In fact, the only weapon that the Jets have on offense is Santonio Holmes, and he is more of a B wide receiver on his overall talent. The Cowboys lack some of the elite talent compared to who is in the division. Overall, Dallas has one guy, Demarcus Ware, who is a superstar player. Tony Romo is a good quarterback who can put up numbers, but he is not on the elite level of quarterbacks, and is not as talented as Eli. Demarco Murray had a couple impressive games last year, but history is full of running backs that had a couple great games but never amounted to anything. Witten is old, and Bryant and Austin are not to the same skill set as Nicks and Cruz for the Giants, or Jackson and Maclin for the Eagles.

Denver was easy. The storyline is Peyton Manning, and how well will one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game come back from his injury. Denver has a group of young wide receivers that are extremely talented. The offensive line in Denver is one of the best in the league. Add the defense that the Broncos have, we may have a special team if Manning stays healthy. The Rams have put together an intriguing team. Jeff Fisher is one of the elite defensive head coaches in the NFL. They really upgraded on the defensive side of the ball by adding Cortland Finnegan and drafting Michael Brockers. One of the wide receivers needs to step up and become a true number one target for them to make major noise in the NFC, but this should be the most improved team in the NFL next season.
