Shorts Injured, Jags WR will miss Eagles Game
If the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to outgun the Philadelphia Eagles’ fast-paced, high-powered offense, they’re going to have to do it without wide receiver Cecil Shorts III.
Shorts has been ruled out of Sunday’s opener against Philadelphia with a hamstring injury. The top receiver on the team, Shorts caught 66 balls for 777 yards and three TDs last year.
The 26-year-old Shorts was limited in practice all week, which means the Jaguars will have to rely on rookies to fill his shoes. Those newcomers include Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee and Allen Hurns. Second-year wideout Mike Brown could also fill in for Jaguars, who have two other wide receivers (Kerry Taylor and Tony Washington) on their practice squad.
