BallHyped Network Will Become the First Major Sports Blog Network to Give ALL of its Advertising Revenue to its Bloggers (Not Shareholders)
Today marks our second birthday here at the BallHyped Sports Blog Network, and we wanted to do something drastic in our old age. So instead of throwing a party for ourselves, we’ve decided to give our bloggers the gift: BallHyped.net.
You heard us right. We’re essentially giving our sports blog network to the Bloggers, and are currently building an ad-revenue model that will give our beloved bloggers 100% of the ad revenue we bring in.
Who does that in this day in age? Nobody.
In fact, more and more blog networks (owned by shareholders instead of bloggers) are selling out to multi-million-dollar corporations without giving their bloggers a penny:
• Bleacher Report was acquired by Time Warner Turner just this past August for $175 million.
• Yardbarker, which had already raised $8 million in funding, was acquired by Fox Sports for a reported $20 million.
• And let’s not forget AOL purchasing The Huffington Post for $315 million … AND TechCrunch for some $40 million.
Not BallHyped. Beginning this week, we’ve started a Kick Starter-like campaign over at Indiegogo to help raise money for the development of our improved blog network.
The money we raise will go toward building out the new ad revenue model, which, in return, will put 100% of our ad revenue back in the hands of the bloggers.
Want to join the cause? Bloggers who aren’t already contributing to BallHyped.net, can join the roster of bloggers by pledging $25 or more to our start-up campaign at Indiegogo.
In return, you’ll be given a spot on the blog network and also receive exclusive resources like access to BallHyped Blogging University and “The Book on Blogging,” as well as BallHyped swag like books, T-shirts and journals.
In the meantime, show your support of the project, and our bloggers, by:
Making a pledge at indiegogo.com/ballhyped, where you can also watch a video explaining the project.
